The relationship that changed my life:
A whole year, holy cow! Where have you gone? To think this time last year I was sobbing on the phone with my best friend about how I can’t handle this anymore. Her wise words: “Well he sucks anyway; you can come live with me.” (Thanks Lynsey)
The relationship I was in for that time changed my life forever. Some people laugh at me when I say this, but every relationship changes us and molds us in some way. Some relationships impact us more than others, but they all make a difference in us.
I never thought a relationship could change my life so much, but that relationship taught me more than just being heartbroken or angry! I learned about forgiveness and closure and all the other “stuff” written in those self-help or self-improvement books. I am afraid that I believe a lot of it is a bunch of crap. (Sorry, but the power of wine and online shopping is much better than those silly stages of break-ups)!
I could go on about how that relationship changed my life by teaching me life lessons (don’t get me wrong it did), but the real reason that relationship changed my life, is because it gave me my life back. I had lost sight of myself behind those closed and controlled doors. Now I have been given the chance to live again. I found out what I had been missing all along—I missed the feeling of being loved by friends and family. I also gained the change to be brave, to fight for women and men who can’t fight for themselves. I have been given the chance to finally feel what it’s like to be wanted in a relationship and to find out what a real date is. That relationship that changed my life—gave me back my life!
Much Love,
Molly Francis
